This month is jam packed full of holidays and spring time activities. Mark your calendars with the best local events that you don’t want to miss. I love supporting our community, and keeping it local is a great way to do that.
2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Event
May 4 12pm – 5pm @ Santa Paula Train Depot
Live entertainment, music, car show, corn hole tournament, cultural dances, food, games, and more!
First Sunday at the Airport
May 5 10am – 2pm @ Aviation Museum of Santa Paula
Enjoy the open house at the museum, a food truck, free airplane rides for kids, and the chain of hangars open to the public. A Cinco de Mayo car cruise too! This event takes place on the first Sunday of every month.
Chili Cook-off & Craft Brew Festival
May 5 11am – 5pm @ Conejo Creek Park
Food trucks, chili tasting booths, a kid zone, and live music! Unlimited beer tastings for those with a Craft ticket. This sounds like a delicious way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
63rd Annual Conejo Valley Days
May 9-12 5pm-8pm @ Conejo Creek Park South
Celebrate your western roots and community spirit in this four day family event filled with carnival rides, games, music, and crafts.
25th Annual Ojai Valley Garden Tour
May 11 10am – 4pm @ Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce
This self-guided tour features five private gardens and two demonstrations around Ojai. Each of the gardens will have unique plantings, water conservation techniques, or green waste management incorporated in their design. Use the link to purchase early bird tickets for only $25.
2nd Annual Rosé Soirée
May 11 1pm – 6pm @ Topa Mountain Winery
Live bands, a pop-up market, stained glass workshops, and plenty of wine (of course!) I have yet to try their Frosé and Rosé Cider but they sound delicious. The event is free, but tickets for the stained glass workshop must be purchased in advanced on their website.
Surf n Suds Craft Brew Festival
May 18 12:30pm – 5pm @ San Buenaventura State Beach
This popular event has a high risk of selling out, so get your tickets if you don’t want to miss out. Aside from the craft beers, kombuchas, ciders, and wines, you will find food trucks, beer pong, cornhole, and surfboard shapers! A Brew Bus also offers safe transportation to the event. (Ages 21+)
California Strawberry Festival
March 18-19 10am – 6:30pm @ Strawberry Meadows, College Park
At this festival you will find food booths, contests, rides, craft vendors, concerts, celebrity chef demos, and tons of strawberries…
Circus Vargas
May 23 – 27 Various Times @ Ventura County Fairgrounds
Celebrate the Circus Vargas’ 50th Anniversary with two hours of amazing action and adventure. After the show, meet and mingle with the cast! Purchase your tickets in advance and arrive early to get your seats.
Food Truck Festival
May 25 4pm-9pm @ Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District
With more than twenty food trucks attending, you’re sure to find something for even the pickiest eaters. Enjoy a fun dinner with family and friends in the park.
Throwback Thursday Food Truck Festival
May 30 5pm-9pm @ Camarillo Ranch House
On the last Thursday of every month you can enjoy local beer and wine, live entertainment, and lots of food! You can also enjoy tours of the historic Camarillo Ranch House. Admission is free but any money spent will go towards the educational programs and historical preservation of the house.
